Parliament shooting ‘minor incident’

TEHRAN, Jun. 07 (MNA) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Wed. terrorist shooting inside parliament was a ‘minor incident’ and security forces are fully capable of handling the ‘cowardly attackers’.  

Ali Larijani, who chaired today’s open session of parliament despite ongoing attacks behind closed doors, said the attack indicates that terrorists are seeking to create problems for Iran.

“Iran is an active and effective hub for combating terrorism, and terrorists wish to undermine such activities,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Intelligence announced that three terrorist attacks had been planned to be carried out in Tehran, one of which was foiled and its perpetrators arrested before being able to carry out the attack.

The two other attacks occurred inside the parliament and at the shrine of Ayatollah Khomeini. According to Ministry of Intelligence, one of the suicide bombers at the shrine was shot dead by security guards while the other blew himself up.

The terrorist team at the parliament is currently surrounded by security forces.
